Positives And Negatives Of Background Checks

Background checks are very valuable for companies to run especially if they work for the government or in the health care industry, but it’s also important in a number of other sectors. These checks permit companies to glance at the history of possible employees. And for many it can be a deciding factor of who they want to hire.

Many individuals while applying may appear to be something that they are not. On the other hand others may openly acknowledge that they had problems in the past and then let the company assess whether they think that person would be an acceptable employee. But at any rate background checks give employers extra information about individuals applying with them.

If someone has been convicted ofstealing, drugs or other offenses then a background check will let employers know the problems applicants may have and the areas where it’s occured. So an office may employ someone that was arrested for theft at a young age but retail stores might not. A conviction doesn’t mean an automated elimination, although it can. Now and then they place them in specific departments so they won’t have access to something they formerly had problems with.

But then again these checks aren’t everything. Occasionally companies use them as a deciding factor and they get rid of a lot of individuals that may have done something wrong when they were young and stupid but they’re still paying for it. And one guilty verdict labels these individuals for the rest of their lives. And they may not get the job even supposing they are the best option.

But then again some people may have a flawless background but may wreak havoc on a company. Maybe they are really good at concealing their problem. One instance of this was a drug addict surgery technician. She had no record but she would steal and inject herself with painkillers and fill up the used needles with saline. Well the technician had Hepatitis C, which means she endangered thousands of patients and infected 36 patients with the disease through the used syringes.

So these patients now have Hepatitis C which is an incurable liver disease. It is a blood-borne disease that can cause serious liver problems like cirrhosis and liver cancer. And the symptoms can include fatigue, vomiting, nausea, abdominal aches, and jaundice. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Hepatitis C but there are medications which can hold back the virus for a long period of time.

As this particular case displays, background checks do not get rid of a lot of problems. There are people that have a clean background that get hired and then they cause a lot of problems. Then there are those that may have done a few wrong things in the past but they’ve changed their life around and they don’t get hired as a result of their conviction. Background checks are good because employers can learn more about those applying for a position at their company.

Really, when it comes down to it a background check can help employers know what a person may have done in the past but when hiring new workers recruiters and H.R. managers have to understand that now and then they just have to go with their gut. A background check can’t show everything, so they have to weigh the positives and negatives in order to come to the best choice.

Frankly speaking my profession is a teacher. Where can it be in use in the modern world, except journalism and, actually, pedagogy? It occurs, that it can. Especially in a management pursuits! Who is manager? Basically, initially, it is the chief.

1. The expert in the field of management of the production, enterprise.

2. The organizer of creative, sports and other activity.

Without going into detail, it is possible to tell that the manager is the one, who performs the job not by hands. The manager is a member of administrative staff.

The manager is a chief or the managing director, holding a constant post and allocated with authorities in the field of decision-making on concrete kinds of activity of the firm functioning in market conditions.

Among the basic functions of the manager it is possible to allocate:

- Planning – definition of the purposes of the organization also what members of the organization should do to reach them;

- The organization – structuring of work of the employees, increasing efficiency of their work, for object in view achievement;

- Good management – is a process finishing of decisions of the manager to his employees;

- Coordination – the coordination and an establishment of interrelations for achievement of purposes;

- Motivation – creation of the conditions inducing employees to make their work more effectively;

- The control – is maintenance of achievement of objects in view.

Nowadays, however, the word manager has acquired so wide sense that happens simply inconveniently accurately to advance, who he is. It is possible to say that manager can be seller, buyer, advertisement maker, recruiter and the PR manager. Under this definition are from the commercial agent, the direct-sales representative, and the engineer etc. to the middle manager. All it became already clear, that not any manager by definition is the manager as a matter of fact.

I wish to talk today about the managers connected with sales.

How is to become the manager, highly paid and in demand?

In general, it is not simple. But at the same time there is nothing unattainable for hardworking and searching person.

Moreover, managers have the most fast surmountable career, and climbing the ladder, you deserve the highest dividends expressed in high salary.

If you wish to earn money, go in managers. The percent from the bargain, which you will receive at successful work, very soon can exceed the base salary that will give you the chance to begin an own business. You will get connection and acquaintances, will get own base of clients.

Besides, you receive a unique business lesson that will allow avoiding further many mistakes, which could arise if you began the business with complete zero.

Some people, however, prefer not to develop own business, and to earn under someone’s beginning as top-managers. And it is also quite good earning! But it is impossible to become top-manager at once.

Though the time interval of growth from the direct-sales representative to the top executive in modern conditions of prompt development of our poorly run in market can be overcome very fast. There would be an interest to business, propensity, abilities, and, certainly, the desire and readiness any time to work on deterioration. This way is not too long.

If to explain in details, it is at first the direct-sales representative – then the manager – and, at last, the top-manager. Here a career ladder of the majority of modern sellers. There can be, of course, and other variations of career. But this most, in my opinion, logical and productive, because allows to gain all extensive experience necessary in commercial sphere.
