The first thing you need to remember when taking your shot is that your feet need to be planted on the ground, and pointed at the basket. If you notice that your shot is sometimes off center you are most likely not pointing your feet directly at the basket.
The second central principle is that you need to bend your knees when you shoot. Bending at your knees will help you get some force under the ball when you release it. When you’ve got your ball into the elevator you are now prepared to shoot. Put the ball up and out and point your fingers down to make a “swan neck” shape with your hand and forearm. Your fingers should look as if they’re trying to dip in the basketball hoop. This will help direct your shot toward the hoop. Also, make sure to give yourself about a 5 inch vertical leap off the ground when you perform your shot. Remember that your legs are required for extra energy underneath the basketball.
