How To Kill Bed Bugs

Bed bugs used to be a nuisance back in the early days, but they were nearly wiped out in the middle of the 20th century. However, bed bugs have been making a comeback lately due to the fact that less powerful insecticides are used today.

International travel has also inflated the problem. Now that more countries that have bed bug problems are traveling to the ones that do not, bed bugs are spreading like wildfire. Even what seems like clean and luxurious hotels are experiencing issues with bed bugs.

Bed bugs can hide anywhere. They can hide in your clothes, luggage, mattress, furniture, or in cracks and crevices in your home. Usually they will hide close to their food, which is you, so they stay in the mattress.

Bed bugs come out at night and drink your blood. They leave chemicals in the bite wound so that you will not feel pain. Once the bed bug leaves and the chemicals wear off, your skin will feel irritable.

To kill bed bugs and get rid of them once and for all from your home, you have to find each and every last one of them. By leaving just one behind, the bed bugs will repopulate quickly in your residence.

If you suspect that bed bugs are hiding in your mattress, then may want to buy a mattress cover. These plastic covers kill bed bugs by closing them inside the cover. After 6 months or longer, the bed bugs will be starved to death.

After killing the bed bugs on your mattress, look elsewhere around your room. Any place that seems like a good hiding spot you should check it out.

If you feel that you cannot find all the places where bed bugs hide, you might want to call up a professional exterminator. They have the resources and knowledge to kill bed bugs.

How To Remove Rats From Your Residence

Rats are a major menace for houses across the world. Some of the methods of tackling the rat problem in your residence are discussed here.

One of the most effective methods to do this is to use electronic pest control techniques. There are effective sonic rat repellents in the market that emit sounds of high frequency to drive away rats. These sounds are not dangerous for humans or household pets as they are audible only to rats.

Another technique of getting rid of rats is by making use of organic rat repellents. This technique makes use of minute tablets or pellets that smell like rat predators and hence scare the rats away. These can be spread evenly around the home, garage and other places that can serve as breeding grounds for rats.

Moth balls can also be used to repel rats as the strong odour emitted by them drives rats away from your home. They are highly effective if kept in remote and dark corners of the house, which are likely to be frequented by the rats.

One of the ways that have been in practice for quite some time now is the use of mechanical traps, commonly called wooden snap traps. These traps are cheap and easy to place, but they have to be laid with proper bait. They should be kept away from children and pets as they can result in injuries. The biggest drawback of laying a rat trap is that it can catch just one rat at one go. Yet the benefit of a snap trap is that unlike other rat repellents, they are completely non-toxic.

A glue board can also be used to trap and kill rats. A glue board can be easily made by taking a cardboard or wooden piece and putting a lot of glue on it. The board can then be laid at particular places after placing some food crumbs as bait for the rats. When a rat tries to nibble on the food from the glued board, it gets stuck and then can be manually removed or left to slowly die of starvation.
